A love letter to my 37 year old liberated self
Self liberation to me is to embark on a mission to break free from social conditioning to live one’s own unique truth.
The definition of social conditioning is:
‘The sociological process of training individuals in a society to act or respond in a manner generally approved by the society in general and peer groups within society. The concept is stronger than that of socialization, which refers to the process of inheriting norms, customs and ideologies.’
This is an anecdotal and declarative love letter sharing a liberatingly definitive year of going my own way, making my own rules to live by, and celebrating all of the things that my peers and society might never celebrate in me. This is a love letter to the year that I stood in new beliefs and ideologies that cultivated feelings of deep self belonging and true happiness. This is a love letter to myself for the year I chose to go all in on an existence that is wholly based on radical self permission to live my truth. May it inspire you to live yours.
A lesson in patience from an insatiable Aries
As I move into an appreciation of the non-linear, cyclical nature of life and reconnect to the cyclical nature of my own body, I am learning to appreciate that there is a time for burning through and a time for cool contemplation before action. Slowness and intentional movement through an experience is not only useful when facing a challenge or confrontation, but also useful when opening to acceptance or moving towards an object or state of desire.
As I lean into my desires, and burn through another layer of self-protection no longer needed, the release of all that once weighed me down and held me back feels like the release of tension in a bow. The arrow of me wants to shoot forward into a future life built on the foundations of my true desires, but before the release the archer of me lingers, not out of hesitation or fear, but as an intentional pause to slowly trace their eyes over all that lies ahead before taking aim.
MERCURY RETROGRADE SURTHRIVAL GUIDE
Mercury retrograde is a transit that happens 3-4 times a year when Mercury, the planet of communication slows down and can make it feel like everything is being turned upside down in one or more areas of your life. MR is usually greatly feared as things tend to get murky and confusing with delays, miscommunications and misunderstandings. I want to offer you this surthrival guide to reframe the dread narrative that has become synonymous with this time. When life “seems to be going tits up”, things are never really as they appear in a retrograde. Retrogrades want to turn things inside out so we can see something from another perspective or heal something in a deeper way. There’s always some gold to be found in unexpected and seemingly inconvenient ways, hence why I have called it a surthrival guide- borrowing Devany Amber Wolfe’s term of “surthriving” which I interpret as mastering how to graciously ride the waves of a potentially sticky time.

As we come to the end of Virgo season and the ever-nearing the autumn equinox on 21st sept; a time that literally means ‘equal day and night’, we begin to move away from the light and towards the dark.
The veils are thin.
A tipping point where endings and beginnings are more acutely felt.
As the scales move towards equilibrium and libra season on the 22nd, energetically things may feel all over the place and tense. You may feel pulled to squeeze the last bit of juice out of the playful, social energy of the end of summer; a time of external connection, and pushed by the productive introspective energy of Virgo season calling us towards autumn; a time of internal reflection.
Moons always evoke reflection.
FULL MOON IN AQUARIUS-AN IDEAL IS AN IDEA THAT BECAME REAL
There are so many themes attached to each astrological archetype. The one that my airy libran mind is connecting to most on this Aquarius full moon is the concept of idealism…
…I refuse to believe that idealism is an unrealistic romantic notion. I believe idealism puts visionary and necessary possibilities in motion. I refuse to believe that collective healing is not possible. My soul is just not built this way.
MAGIC 8 FOR LION’S GATE
I have weaved Affirmative Leo codes into this magnetic manifesto inspired by my recent single Back Yourself that you can view here. I am Leo rising and these words are from the fires of my lived experience. May they touch where needs to be touched.
More than anything I stand for empowering and encouraging myself and others as I know what it feels like to have shite self esteem that holds you back from your dreams. We all deserve to achieve our highest potential in this life time, it is so much easier and enjoyable to journey in supportive community.

Leo is ruled by the sun which doesn’t question whether it shines, it doesn’t give a shite, it unapologetically shows itself in full light.
We are currently in a super powerful ascension portal which just so happens to fall on the new moon in Leo. It satisfies the poet in me deeply, it is called The Lion’s Gate and falls on the 8th of the 8th.

The Lion’s gate is a massive opportunity for opening up a new timeline and activating another layer of your creative potential for whatever your heart desires to manifest.

With Cancer sun season being a time that illuminates themes around care, and Leo season on the horizon that embraces joy, this feels like an apt moment to reflect on both of these terms. Of course, we cannot help but frame these terms in the current moment of a pandemic, where these words have been used perhaps more than ever to describe our needs as a society and as individuals. ‘Care’ and ‘joy’ are certainly buzzwords, and often ones which are so excessively used that we do not stop to think about what they mean, and how integral they are to the human experience.
